The Authority officially closed the set-aside month of November as the cyber security awareness month under the theme “Secure Our World”.The closing event took place at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre with different activities to mark the day. MACRA Board Director Stella Chuthi is presiding over the event.
In her remarks, Chuthi said over the past weeks, the nation came together to address one of the most pressing challenges of our time: cybersecurity.She added, “In a world increasingly reliant on digital technology, ensuring the safety of our information, infrastructure, and systems is no longer optional—it is essential. As we conclude this month, we must remind ourselves that cybersecurity is not a one-time event or a single campaign—it is an ongoing commitment. The threats we face in cyberspace are constantly evolving, becoming more sophisticated and far-reaching,” she said.
In her remarks, Director of Legal Services Thokozani Chime who represented #MACRA Director General reminded everyone to know their right and be responsible and make sure that cyberspace is secure.Chimbe said as the Authority, #MACRA engages in various activities to equip consumers on how they can mitigate cyber threats.
Since 2004, the President of the United States and Congress have declared October to be Cybersecurity Awareness Month, a time dedicated for the public and private sectors to work together to raise awareness about the importance of cybersecurity.
