MACRA Organized a Women and girls in Cyber conference under the theme ” Inspiring the Next Generation: Empowering Future Women Cybersecurity Professionals.” as a forum where cybersecurity professionals shared experiences and ideas with the aim of encouraging women and girls to take up cybersecurity as a career.
Esteemed keynotes were delivered by distinguished figures including the First Lady Madam Monica Chakwera, the Minister of Information and Digitalization Hon. Moses Kunkuyu Kalongashawa , the Chair of the MACRA board, the MACRA Director General and renowned female faces from the cybersecurity industry. These addresses were marked by their inspirational narratives and valuable perspectives, offering profound insights into their respective journeys.
The three-day “Women in Cyber Conference featured a combination of keynote speeches, presentations, panel discussions, interactive workshops, fire chats and networking opportunities.
Ms Magodisi Dozola, Ella Hamwaka and Naomi Kaponda took part in a firechat as Malawi CERT’s first responders, paving the way by inspiring young women and girls to join the cyberspace. They highlighted their stories on how they have successfully navigated the tech landscape and contributed to significant cybersecurity advancements. The discussion also focused on the services offered by Malawi CERT, its establishment and mandate.
The conference was a second of its kind following a similar conference last year.
