The Malawi Computer Emergency Response Team (mwCERT) held an interface meeting with the Malawi Education Research Network (MAREN) as a way of enhancing collaboration between the two institutions.
The two institutions discussed how MAREN can champion the coordination of the formation of the academic sectoral CERT.
Speaking at the meeting which was held at Malawi CERT Offices in Lilongwe, Head of Malawi CERT, Christopher Banda emphasized the need for Maren to take a leading role in initiating discussion with academia on the need for establishing the academic CERT as a way of promoting cyber safety in the sector.
In his remarks MAREN’s Chief Executive Officer Solomon Dindi pledged that MAREN will engage Malawi CERT in various stages as they will be initiating the Academic sectoral CERT establishment.

Malawi CERT was established under the Electronic Transaction and Cybersecurity Act of 2016 to coordinate cybersecurity issues in the country.
