The Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (MACRA) held school outreach programs as part of the Safer Internet (SID) 2024 commemoration.
The school outreach program is aimed at equipping school going children with digital literacy skills and good cyber hygiene practices as they navigate the digital spaces.
The outreach team visited Kalibu Academy, Chichiri secondary school and Blantyre Secondary School in the southern region.
The program has received overwhelming support from the school management who have reported having witnessed cases of cyber bullying and the rampant sharing of fake news.
The children showed appreciation for the visit citing new knowledge acquired such as on cyber crimes which include cyber bullying, harassment and grooming.
